Ingredients & Sourcing
Yes, ceremonial cacao is naturally vegan. It contains no dairy or animal products and is perfect for plant-based diets and vegan rituals.
No, despite the name, cacao contains no dairy. Cacao butter is just the creamy, plant-based fat from the cacao bean that’s found in pure cacao mass and is a vegan-friendly ingredient. Fully vegan, totally delicious.
No. Our ceremonial cacao is traditionally processed—fermented, shade-dried, lightly roasted, and ground—to preserve nutrients and develop flavour.
Our cacao originates from carefully selected farms in Bali and Peru, where we work directly with smallholder farmers. We use only single origin cacao beans, meaning each batch comes from one specific region with its own unique flavour profile. This approach allows us to maintain full transparency over the cacao origin, quality, and processing, from harvest to the final block.
Our Peruvian ceremonial cacao is certified organic.
However, while our Balinese cacao is also grown without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilisers, it does not carry formal organic certification. In many regions like Bali, the organic certification process is often costly, bureaucratic, and not always accessible to small-scale farmers.
This lack of certification does not compromise the quality or integrity of our cacao. We work directly with our farming partners and oversee the entire process — from fermentation to drying and grinding — to ensure every batch meets our high standards for purity, sustainability, and natural farming practices.
Jungle Delicacy cacao is tested in independent third-party labs, is heavy metal safe, and complies with EU food safety standards. You can enjoy the benefits and rich taste of our cacao with complete peace of mind.
Cacao Preparation & Use
You only need two ingredients for a basic cacao drink recipe: warm water and pure cacao paste. You can also add plant-based milk, natural sweeteners, and spices like cinnamon or cayenne.
Blend 25-30g finely chopped (with blender or milk frother) ceremonial cacao with 120ml hot water (70°C), a sweetener like honey, and optional spices like cinnamon or cayenne. You can find a variety of spice mixes on our shop specially selected to mix with cacao based on what you body and mind needs at the moment.
Yes! Enhance your pure cacao drink with cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, chilli, or nutmeg and don’t forget a pinch of salt. These natural flavours pair beautifully with cacao.
Absolutely. Sweeten your ceremonial cacao with coconut sugar, raw honey, agave syrup, or dates- whatever suits your preference and dietary needs.
You can prepare cacao drinks with oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or even dairy milk. Choose what feels best for your body and taste.
Use 10–20 grams per serving for a daily ritual, or up to 30 grams for deeper ceremonial use.. Adjust your cacao dose to your intention and body.
Yes! Many people enjoy cacao daily for focus, energy, emotional balance, and as daily cacao rituals. Start with 10-15g and adjust based on how your body responds.
Often yes – ceremonial cacao in moderation can be a gentle, nourishing caffeine alternative drink. It also helps to reduce coffee during pregnancy. Still, it’s best to consult your doctor or midwife, especially in early pregnancy.
Yes, in small amounts. A light cacao drink for children can be a healthier option than sugary drinks or chocolate milk, offering essential minerals and a mild energy boost.
Storage, Quality & Comparisons
Absolutely nothing is wrong, even though some people may worry that their cacao went bad. It is a natural process called cacao butter bloom. This happens when the cacao butter separates from the rest of the paste and rises to the surface, creating a lighter colour or a crumbly texture. It’s especially common in pure, untempered cacao and doesn’t affect the quality, taste, or nutritional value of your ceremonial cacao.
Ceremonial cacao stays fresh for up to 2 years if stored in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and moisture.
During summer months, it might soften or fuse slightly in the heat, but it’s still perfectly good. Simply cool it and chop it as needed – the quality of ceremonial cacao remains intact.
Cacao paste is pure and nutrient-rich, made from whole fermented and roasted beans. Cacao powder is more processed — the fat (cacao butter) is removed, which reduces both the flavour and the active compounds. It’s the difference between a full bean experience and what’s left behind.
While both are used as energising drinks, cacao and coffee affect the body very differently.
Ceremonial cacao vs coffee: Cacao gives long-lasting, gentle energy without anxiety or jittery crash. Caffeine from coffee stimulates the nervous system, while cacao supports the cardiovascular system.
Ceremonial cacao offers a calm, heart-opening, and uplifting experience. It increases blood flow and mood without overstimulation or anxiety. It offers a silky smooth texture and gentle fruitiness, and chocolate taste.
Ceremonial cacao is suitable for anyone seeking gentle energy, clarity, creativity, or connection—from gym and yoga lovers, athletes, to busy professionals and mothers.
